On November 26, 2009 in Zone 9 of the Council held a meeting to take stock of the situation of school buildings.
in our area are in fact located less than 6 school buildings that the City Council considers it particularly critical from the standpoint of security and therefore in need of restructuring.
For these schools in the 2009/2011 three-year plan of public works were to be upgraded starting legal proceedings 2009.
Below is a list of all the six buildings involved:
IC "V. Locchi"
Primary School "Vittorio Locchi" via Passerini 4 / 8 School
secondary "Cassinis" via Hermada 18
IC "Mann T."
Via Goffredo from Busselton Primary School, 9
IC "Locatelli A."
Primary School Via Veglia 80 Locatelli
secondary school Tommaseo 11 Istrian Piazzale
IC "Don Orione"
Primary School F. Iseo Via Caracciolo 7.
Unfortunately in 2009 did not start any renovation work in any of the schools in the Plan.
But the surprise biggest was that the new three-year plan of public works 2010/2012, apart from the school via Hermada (the "Cassinis") which is a prefab is falling apart, the work on five other schools have been postponed to 2011.
This means that, if approved in City Council, work will not begin before mid-2012.
What to do then to get entry into school safety zone 9?
The purpose of the meeting on November 26 sponsored by Prof. Mizzau (Zonal Chairman of the Commission investigation "In the city of young people and children") and municipal council members Mark and Patricia District Cormio was precisely to understand what can be done to all schools in Zone 9.
executives and representatives of the parents of the schools has been proposed to join, such as schools belonging to the same area, in order to have more power to require at least the implementation of priority actions needed to start building security.
In practice it would sign a letter signed by the Officers, and the various components that represent the parents in the school, to be submitted to the Board of Zone 9, and then in the City Council, which require:
On receipt of such letter, the promoters of the initiative have pledged to convene a press conference which will discuss the problems of each school.
The media attention and the force due to the fact that we are 6 schools, and not just one, is expected to plead our cause more effectively in the City Council.
addition, it is possible to intervene at the opening of the Municipal Councils, it was suggested that the Parents Associations and Committees of the various schools to organize themselves to take high rotation attention on the issue.
The meeting concluded with the commitment by the Manager to prepare a draft letter to be signed and sent to the Board of Housing.
